NEW INFORMATION This year we are planning to organise some introductions and training on Le Trec - many people have heard of it but are uncertain about what is involved and how to get started. One of the disciplines is a timed ride which involves following a route by reading an ordnance survey map. Many of us haven't done any map reading since leaving school or the girl guides - if at all! So the first training session will involve an evening on how to read a map and identify different trails and terrains. This will also be useful training for identify new rides in our area for general hacking out. If you are interested please contact Jane on 01489 790103/07775 595969 or janeeporter@aol.com there may be a small charge for attending this event to cover refreshments. Would you like to meet new friends in the club and find new places to ride? Then why not join the "Happy Hackers" group. We aim to meet on a regular basis and explore new areas of Hampshire to ride and enjoy a catch up at the end over a drink or two (the non alcoholic type!). The first ride of 2012 has been scheduled for Saturday February 18th at Chilcomb (nr Winchester) starting at 10.00am. Parking will be at The Grange in Chilcomb courtesy of Adrian Seale and Leanne Lacey, and we will be exploring part of the South Downs Way. Maps will be provided and the ride will be split into two categories - one ride taking approximately an hour for those horses and riders who are less fit and the other taking approximately two hours - time will be dependent on how fast or slow you wish to ride. We will put you with other riders if you wish or you can come along and ride with your own friends, group sizes will be flexible so that everyone can enjoy the ride n safety and comfort. Please ensure you wear a hi-viz even though most of the ride will be off road and that you carry a mobile phone with you in case we need to contact you or you get lost!! If you would like to join the ride then please contact Jane on 01489 790103/07775 595969 or janeeporter@aol.com who will give you further instructions and arrange the groups. Show Jumpers !! : Information Show Jumping Training and Cross Country added! STOCKLAND LOVELL 2012 - DO YOU NEED TRANSPORT? We have one member going on our annual holiday who has space in her lorry for another horse. If you're wanting to go but have been unable to due to lack of transport then here is your chance for a share of the diesel. Also if anyone does wish to go on the holiday but is worried about travelling alone or doesn't fancy the drive then please let me know and hopefully I can put some of you in touch with one another and you could share transport or hire a lorry and driver between you, alternatively join my "annual convoy" which meet up and travel together to the annoyance of motorists on the A303!!! Give me a call if any of the above interests you. Jane T M 07775 595969 janeeporter@aol.com |
