ABOUT SOLENT JUNIORS

Solent Juniors began in 2005 and currently has 46 members.

Solent Riding Clubs aim, when initiating the JUNIOR SECTION, was to allow young horse riders the chance to train and compete alongside riders of similar ages/standards.

We encourage high standards of sportsmanship/turnout and behaviour, on top of encouraging our JUNIORS to enjoy their ponies/horses in a safe and kind manner.

ALL Solent Riding Club training is open to SENIORS & JUNIORS.  You will be advised by the JUNIORS “point of contact”, which training will best suit your individual needs/standard.

SOLENT JUNIOR SHOWJUMPING SUCCESS - RWHS qualifiers

A huge well done to Maddie Waktare, Ellen McGibbon and Katarina Rossell, for their well deserved success:-

Katarina Rosell qualified for the Junior Novice level round 2, at the qualifiers run by Chilworth RC at Braishfield on 10 October.

Ellen McGibbon also qualified for round 2, at Meon Riding Clubs SJ in November.

For the Topscore jumping competition there are 12 jumps, at 2', 2'9 and one joker fence at 3'.  The fences have different marks depending on height from 20 to 120 points.  The joker is worth 200 but if you knock it down 200 marks are deducted!

Riders have 60 seconds to score as highly as possible, jumping fences either way, a maximum of twice per fence to score.  Once the bell goes at 60 seconds, you have to get over the finishing line as quickly as possible, as if two competitors have the same score the person with the fastest time wins.

Maddie Waktare has qualified for round 2 of the RWHS Top Score in the intermediate section.

All three Solent Juniors will be competing in round 2 on February 6th at Crofton.

Only the winner, of each section, goes through to the final.  There is a chance of getting a wildcard if you are a high scoring runner up but there is no guarantee though so the competition is really tough.

Best of luck to all three girls and very well done!

SOLENT JUNIOR SUCCESS !

Royal Windsor Horse Show Unaffiliated Championships.

I am extremely thrilled and proud to pass on the news, - Justine Gwynn has qualified for round 2 of the RWHS Championship!

Justine rode Riding Test 6, in round 1 qualifier, held at Woodington Equestrian Centre, West Wellow on Saturday 12th December.

There were 3 Riding Clubs with Juniors competing – Isle of Wight, New Forest and Solent. The highest placed junior from each club qualified for round 2. There was only 1 SRC rider and that was Justine!

Victoria Ledbetter, who rode for IOW won with an excellent score of  73% .

Justine came an extremely close 2nd with a score of 72.5% - which I am sure you will all agree, is pretty fantastic.

Justine is trained by Denise Hallion, Mayhill Stud, so a huge thank-you to Denise for her excellent work.

Round 2 will be held at Newbury on 31st January 2010 and I am sure we will all be routing for Justine to win and therefore compete at the Royal Windsor Horse Show!

Well done Justine!
